Here in the Northern Hemisphere we tend to associate colored leaves with Autumn but in 2012, after what I imagine must have been a particularly dry winter, I came across a collection of leaves that made me run for my camera. I scooped them out from under the tree where they had become lodged, pushed tightly by a firm West wind. The colors were astonishing. I couldn’t remember having seen leaves like this before. Cobalt Blue, rust, pink and coral, gold, olive. paper crisp and pristine, etched with delicate designs, embossed with copper spines. The phenomena has never been repeated although I look every year. How wonderful it is to observe and discover mysteries hidden among the commonplace.
