I was making my morning round of the garden with the dogs when I spotted a piece of bark that had dropped off a Birch tree during a heavy rainstorm. Birch bark has a beautiful silver papery appearance which adds depth and texture in a delicate way. What made this example so special was the unusual variety of color and shape in one small piece. It made me think of a Satellite photo of somewhere on Earth. It seemed to link with all the other elements to be found in it’s surroundings – from the terracotta flower pot, the green moss and pale olive colored lichen to the rusted Iron railing. Beautiful.
